Special needs: [YELLOW]Background: Stray intake on 6/5/26. Dog was found on 5/31/26. Finder notes that dog jumped right into the car and was friendly, loud, and hyper. Dog was in finderbx00#25;s home for 4 to 5 days with no issues noted. Intake staff reported dog was nervous throughout intake but allowed everything. Yellow dot on intake. First time meeting both handlers during handling evaluation on 6/8/26.O: Dog was at front of kennel with lowered/tucked body language, looked up at handler with soft, worried eyes. Easy to leash. Moderate pulling on leash, walking ahead of handler. Tail down. Did not eliminate. Approached seated handler with loose wagging tail and nosed at treat pouch. Sat when asked. Took treats gently. Pressed head against handlers hands while petting him around his head. Allowed all over touch, but not fully relaxed. Allowed teeth check. Approximately 4 years old by teeth. Did not follow tossed toys. Moderate pulling back to kennel. No issues rekenneling. A: Somewhat affiliative. Difficult to assess energy level as dog appears overwhelmed. Treat motivated. Knows some basic training (sit) but pulls on leash. Shows enjoyment with pets, but slightly timid currently. P: Make available for adoption. Recommend patient rewards-based approach to basic training (leash walking, basic commands) with structured and slow introduction to new environments/people. May do best in an adult only home or with older dog-savvy older kids as dog is somewhat timid. Yellow for in-shelter handling d/t being somewhat timid approaching handlers.[2026-06-08 21:08:00.000]
