Hi there! Dutchess here.

I'm the kind of girl who walks in and everyone knows it—fluffy, athletic, and absolutely devoted to making sure you never feel lonely again.

Word is I'm a championship snuggler. I don't like to brag, but the notes don't lie.

I've been holding down the fort in East Derry, hoping someone like you would wander by.

Here's the thing — I can't tell if we'd truly click until I know a little about you. Sign in (it's free) and I'll size up your place, say hello to any dogs you've got — or be your very first — and give you my honest read on whether we'd be a match.

With a little luck, Halloween could be my first one in a real home — possibly with you, or with someone you send my way.

Anyway, thank you for reading all the way to the end. Not everyone does, and I noticed. — Dutchess

About Dutchess

Meet Dutchess Some dogs quietly steal your heart… and then there's Dutchess, who charges straight in, grabs it, and never gives it back. ❤️ Dutchess is a 3-year-old (possibly a little younger!) female spitz mix weighing around 39 pounds of fluffy, athletic, absolutely unforgettable fun. She may have a royal name, but there's nothing stuffy about this girl. Dutchess is silly, affectionate, energetic, and completely devoted to her people. And she has never met a stranger. Dutchess LOVES people. She wants to be where her humans are, soaking up attention, collecting pets, and making sure she's included in whatever is happening. Whether you're playing in the yard, tossing a ball, going for an adventure, or simply relaxing at home, Dutchess wants to be your girl and your constant companion. And speaking of that ball… BALL IS LIFE! Dutchess is a bona fide ball fanatic. She is FAST, athletic, and incredibly entertaining to watch. She can make amazing mid-air catches and is perfectly capable of keeping herself entertained with her favorite toy. Watching Dutchess play is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. She also enjoys canine friends and currently attends doggie daycare, where she has done well with dogs both big and small. That said, Dutchess tends to be happiest with larger dogs or dogs who are confident, playful, and active enough to match her energy. A compatible canine companion could be a wonderful addition to her life. But Dutchess isn't the right match for just any home, and we want to be upfront about what she needs so that we can find her the right forever family. Dutchess needs an experienced dog owner. Her adopter should understand dogs, be comfortable with structure and management, and be committed to continuing positive, reward-based training. Dutchess also has a very strong prey drive, which means she cannot live with cats or other small animals. She needs a home where she won't have access to animals she may view as prey. She also has resource-guarding tendencies around her food, toys, and treats. Because of this, Dutchess cannot live with children and needs an adult-only home where her boundaries can be respected and her resources can be managed appropriately. These things don't make Dutchess a bad dog. They simply mean that she needs a person who understands her, respects what she is telling them, and is willing to give her the structure and guidance she needs to succeed. And what you'll get in return is something pretty special. Dutchess isn't looking for just any home. She's looking for her home. She needs an experienced, adult-only adopter with no cats or small animals, who can appreciate her energy, understand her resource guarding, and give her the consistency, structure, exercise, and love she deserves. A compatible larger or very active dog may be a wonderful friend for her. If you're the kind of person who looks at a dog like Dutchess and thinks, "I understand that she has some things to work on, but I also see how incredibly special she is," then maybe you're exactly who she's been waiting for. Dutchess is ready to be someone's best friend, adventure buddy, personal ball player, and forever girl. All she needs now is someone who will see the incredible dog underneath the quirks — and love her for all that she is. ❤️
