Pinky has been placed on FINAL as of 9/10/2026.He must be pulled by 5:00 PM on 9/18/2026, or he will be humanely euthanized.Pinky has consistently demonstrated high Fear, Anxiety, and Stress (FAS) while housed in the shelter. In his kennel, Pinky continues to display high arousal and repetitive behaviors, including spinning in the kennel, barking, jumping off the walls of the kennel, and jumping onto the kennel door.Pinky has also demonstrated mouthy behavior while being handled on leash, including jumping and leash biting. While in the yard, Pinky can become overstimulated and mouthy. He has been responsive to redirection, and when redirected, he was able to stop the mouthy behavior. Pinky is a high-energy dog who may jump on handlers during interactions.Pinky has demonstrated positive social and handling behaviors as well. During an interaction with another dog, Pinky began running around and playing with the dog and was vocal throughout the interaction. He was able to take breaks from play on his own. While outside of the kennel, Pinky's body posture remained loose. He allowed full-body petting and handling.Pinky has a bite history. He bit a member of the medical staff, resulting in a puncture wound. Given this incident, as well as his high arousal, jumping, nipping, and mouthy behavior, his interactions with people should be carefully considered. Any future handling should be conducted by experienced handlers using appropriate safety, supervision, and management protocols.Pinky's consistently high FAS and highly aroused kennel presentation suggest that the shelter environment is significantly impacting his emotional well-being. Given Pinky's high FAS, significant kennel reactivity, high energy, jumping and nipping behavior, overstimulation, and documented bite resulting in a puncture wound, placement should be with an experienced rescue organization that can provide a lower-stress environment, appropriate decompression time, individualized behavioral support, and appropriate safety and management protocols.
