Breed

Hey, friend! Duke (W. Sacramento) here.

I'm the sweet, compact basset hound who transforms from shy to snuggly with a little patience—just wait until you see me blossom into your devoted, treat-loving companion.

Word is I'm a championship snuggler. I don't like to brag, but the notes don't lie.

I'm still young and full of beans, with a whole lot of love (and the occasional zoomie) saved up for the right person.

I've been holding down the fort in Petaluma, hoping someone like you would wander by.

Here's the thing — I can't tell if we'd truly click until I know a little about you. Sign in (it's free) and I'll size up your place, say hello to any dogs you've got — or be your very first — and give you my honest read on whether we'd be a match.

With a little luck, Halloween could be my first one in a real home — possibly with you, or with someone you send my way.

Anyway, thank you for reading all the way to the end. Not everyone does, and I noticed. — Duke (W. Sacramento)

About Duke (W. Sacramento)

Three-year-old Duke came into GGBR with his sister Roxy. They are truly a bonded pair and very much need to stay together. Duke is a nervous fellow at first but with a little time and patience he blossoms into an incredibly sweet, cuddly boy who wants very much to please you, play with other dogs (especially his sister), attack his dog beds, and gobble up treats. He is on the smaller side at 40 pounds. He is well house trained and uses a doggy door. He is also crate trained and does well in the car. Duke seems to have had a rough start in life, which may be why he is nervous around new people, new dogs, and new situations. But he is being fostered in a dog sitting home with many dogs that come and go and, given a little time, he has adjusted well and is becoming more well-socialized every day. He would love a new mom or dad who is patient and gentle, as he can be a little sensitive. He is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and had a dental cleaning on August 25.
