Hey, friend! Delilah HW here.
I'm basically a furry ottoman with legs shorter than your sense of shame, and I've perfected the art of napping through your entire workday—unless treats appear, then I'm suddenly your most attentive friend.
Word is I'm a championship snuggler. I don't like to brag, but the notes don't lie.
I'm on the bigger side — which, if you ask me, is just more of me to hug.
Born and (almost) raised right here in Sedalia.
Here's the thing — I can't tell if we'd truly click until I know a little about you. Sign in (it's free) and I'll size up your place, say hello to any dogs you've got — or be your very first — and give you my honest read on whether we'd be a match.
If all goes well, I could be curled up with my new pack by Labor Day — maybe yours, whether you adopt me or just help me get noticed.
Either way, thank you for seeing me today. That part mattered more than you know. — Delilah HW

About Delilah HW
This pup will be available to meet starting on 8/1Meet Delilah, the fun-sized House Hippo who proves that the best things really do come in short, squatty packages! At 5 years old and 70 pounds, she's got the body of a hippo, the legs of a corgi (okay... maybe even shorter), and enough personality to keep you laughing every single day. Seriously... my shoe is taller than her legs. Delilah is built low to the ground so she's always closer to the snacks... and trust us, treats are absolutely her love language! If you've got cookies, she's got your undivided attention. When she's not accepting treats like the polite lady she is, you'll probably find her modeling a pair of sunglasses like the celebrity she clearly believes she is. Honestly? She pulls them off better than most humans. This goofy girl arrived at the shelter as an unclaimed stray, and now she's patiently waiting for someone to finally give her the loving home she deserves. She walks beautifully on a leash, loves people, gets along well with other dogs, and would much rather lounge around than participate in any rough-and-rowdy nonsense. Give her a comfy bed, a few snacks, some belly rubs, and she'll think she's living in paradise. Delilah does have heartworms, but here's the good news—they're completely treatable, and the rescue covers the costs of treatment at one of our partner veterinarians. Her dream home is simple: A cozy couch (or three.) Plenty of snacks. Occasional sunglasses for maximum style points. Someone who appreciates a low-rider with a huge heart. The softest dog bed money can buy... although she'd probably rather steal yours.Delilah has soulful eyes, a smile that melts hearts, and the kind of sweet, tolerant personality that makes everyone fall in love. She's proof that you don't need long legs to leave a big impression. If you've been looking for a loyal best friend who's equal parts comedian, cuddle bug, fashion icon, and professional lounger, Delilah is ready to waddle right into your heart.Warning: Side effects of adopting Delilah may include excessive laughing, an increase in snack sharing, and constantly telling people, "You have to see how cute my little house hippo is!"They were rescued from a shelter in New Mexico.Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
