Psst… hi! Athena here.

I'm still learning to trust, but once I do, I'm quietly yours—a gentle guardian who'd rather observe than jump, and who blooms beside patient hearts.

My notes call me gentle and a little shy — I warm up fast once I trust you, though.

I'm on the bigger side — which, if you ask me, is just more of me to hug.

Born and (almost) raised right here in Bandera.

Here's the thing — I can't tell if we'd truly click until I know a little about you. Sign in (it's free) and I'll size up your place, say hello to any dogs you've got — or be your very first — and give you my honest read on whether we'd be a match.

If all goes well, I could be curled up with my new pack by Halloween — maybe yours, whether you adopt me or just help me get noticed.

Thanks for spending a minute with me. I'll be right here, tail ready, hoping it's you. — Athena

About Athena

Athena is a 12-month-old Great Pyrenees mix weighing about 65 pounds. Found roaming the streets as a young dog, she was pregnant when rescued and has since had her puppies, who have all been adopted. She is a gentle, well-mannered dog who does not jump and gets along well with other dogs and children ages 8 and older. Athena will need a fenced yard, as Great Pyrenees are known to roam without one, and she is still learning leash skills. Her thick coat makes her well-suited to colder climates in the northern United States.
