Hi, new friend! Lillian here.

I've got a feeling you and I could be pretty great together.

I do come with a few special needs, but please don't let that worry you — I just need a patient friend, and I pay it back tenfold.

I'd love to meet you. But if I'm not quite the one, maybe you could do me one tiny favor — print my bio and pop it up somewhere a future best friend might spot it. Who knows, I might see you at the park someday! Either way, thank you for stopping by and giving me a moment. It really did mean a lot. — Lillian 🐾

The rescue’s notes on Lillian

DOB: 03/17/2022 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes, but comes on a little strong Okay with cats: No, afraid of cats! Okay with children under 12 years old: Need to watch around food Weight:19 pounds Requires a fenced yard: No, if committed to an exercise plan Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Watch out world, I'm looking for my forever family! My name is Lillian but I also go by "pretty girl," "Princess Lilly" and "What Are You Eating!?" I was born with a congenital condition called PRAA: Persistent Right Aortic Arch - which means a blood vessel near my heart wrapped around my esophagus while I was in the womb. It slowly crushed the trachea and my ability to swallow. As a pup, before Underdog, I was very thin because I couldn't keep food down. I had surgery at the U of M and they removed the blood vessel. Sadly, damage had been permanently done, but we figured out the best way for me to eat - and that is standing up with my front legs higher than my back legs! It sounds complicated but I trained my people very well and they understand how to feed me without any problems. I eat Honest Kitchen and it would be best if I could stay on that because the consistency is perfect for me and it is simple to make. Sometimes I still vomit after a few hours from eating - but I just try to eat it again and help you clean that up. I also take Viagra to help with pressure and motility. Once you and I get the hang of it, it's really no big deal and impacts my daily life very little. I'm a very smart girl and I am quick at learning all the important dog things. I love to please my humans so training me will be a breeze! I am doing super well with potty training and I'm working on leash manners. I absolutely loathe my kennel and will make it very known if I'm put in one – bark bark! I am very well behaved out of a kennel though and sleep in my bed while my people are gone. I would prefer to go with you though and promise to be a good girl in the car! I do love going on adventures! My favorite thing in the world is my people and I don't believe in personal space. For some reason everyone who meets me calls me a "Velcro dog" and my people agree. I just love being loved and showing my love. I really hope you have a me-size spot on the couch next to you! I love kids almost as much as I love food and I'm gentle with the baby in my house. I also get along with all dogs and LOVE to play! If the dogs won't play with me I will get a toy and throw it for myself, I'm an independent gal. If I sound like your kind of dog apply for me! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***
