Well, hello! Washington here.

I'm basically a shadow with four legs and endless energy—I'll guard you, play fetch until YOUR arm falls off, and snuggle like it's my job once you prove you're my person.

My notes say I'm a world-class cuddler, and I'd like that on the record.

Born and (almost) raised right here in Bradenton.

Here's the thing — I can't tell if we'd truly click until I know a little about you. Sign in (it's free) and I'll size up your place, say hello to any dogs you've got — or be your very first — and give you my honest read on whether we'd be a match.

If all goes well, I could be curled up with my new pack by Labor Day — maybe yours, whether you adopt me or just help me get noticed.

Thanks for stopping by and giving me a moment — it honestly made my whole day. — Washington

About Washington

Meet Washington! Mr. Washington is longingly awaiting his forever-person… His current foster says he would make a great one-person type dog for someone that really values the "guard dog" in him and would cherish a loyal 4-legged friend always watching their back. He needs firm boundaries and leadership like any working breed mix. Some great points about Washington is that he LOVES toys and this is a fun outlet to enjoy with him! He really gets into his play! With some more guidance and practice he could be a good frisbee dog. Washington LIVES to chase and catch just about anything you can throw! He really seeks out being close to you once he knows he can trust you and is such a snuggly boy. His trainer says when he isn't in a distracted state he's a great pupil and works hard to earn another treat and seems to be very proud of himself. Washington's hard point is that he is extremely intense and determined in his pursuit of lizards and cats (or similar small creatures) and is very difficult to refocus once he locks his eyes on one. For this reason he is not to be homed with cats or small dogs and needs a very experienced owner that isn't a shy handler and is very confident with large strong dogs. Washington is currently being fostered in a board and train facility in Hampton Florida (near Gainesville). His trainer says his leash manners are really coming along and that it is essential for his future owners to keep up with his training and leadership exercises. Washington will come with a WEEK of half price training sessions to help him transition best to bonding with and obeying his forever person. If you are not local, a FREE private session will be offered upon pickup or meet up to adopt Mr. Washington. Washington may be homed with other dogs, but is definitely more into connecting with a human and playing with his toys than he is with other dogs. He would be happy to be an only dog or homed with a dog(s) that has no opinions about being boss and just wants to play. To inquire further about Washington you may directly email his current foster at classycanine101@yahoo.com — just make sure to type WASHINGTON in the subject box!
