Hi, new friend! Bernard here.
I'm a one-of-a-kind mix — basically the best surprise in the building.
Word is I'm a championship snuggler. I don't like to brag, but the notes don't lie.
I'm on the bigger side — which, if you ask me, is just more of me to hug.
I do come with a few special needs, but please don't let that scare you off — I just need a patient friend, and I pay it back tenfold.
I've been holding down the fort in St. Louis Park, hoping someone like you would wander by.
Here's the thing — I can't tell if we'd truly click until I know a little about you. Sign in (it's free) and I'll size up your place, say hello to any dogs you've got — or be your very first — and give you my honest read on whether we'd be a match.
With a little luck, Thanksgiving could be my first one in a real home — possibly with you, or with someone you send my way.
Anyway, thank you for reading all the way to the end. Not everyone does, and I noticed. — Bernard

About Bernard
Bernard is a 89% Shar Pei and 11% Pug mix who is affectionate, goofy, and eager to bond with his person. He greets people with pure joy and loves gentle face kisses, and he's excellent at matching energy—excited when you're excited, calm and content to relax beside you when you're relaxed. Bernard gets along well with cats and has made good progress with other dogs in the home, even sharing gentle licks with them. Bernard knows how to sit and listens well with treats, though recall is not his strong suit, especially around small animals like squirrels. He walks decently on leash but needs secure handling and careful door-watching. He is still learning to signal when he needs to go outside, so monitoring his water intake is important; he may have accidents if he drinks too much too quickly. Bernard enjoys soft toys without destroying them and loves chews, but chews need supervision once they become narrow since he may snap and swallow pieces. He also has a taste for paper of any kind and enjoys eating grass and plants outdoors, so supervision is necessary both indoors and outside. Bernard may bark sometimes when left alone and can be a bit nervous around one of the other Shar-Pei in the home, though they have made progress together.
