I won't fib — I've got a little grey on my muzzle. But being older just means I'm past the wild puppy stuff and all about cozy company and slow, happy mornings.

Dixie is a 10-year-old black and tan dachshund weighing 16.8 pounds who came to rescue after her owner in Alabama passed away. She is blind and may be defensive due to suspected past abuse, but she is house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained, and enjoys affection like chin scratches and pets when she chooses to seek it out. Dixie is a low-key companion who spends most of her day sleeping and gets excited at mealtimes; she needs to be an only dog in a calm home, preferably on the ground floor of an apartment or a house where she can be leashed outside. This permanent foster placement is based in Tennessee, and the rescue will cover all of Dixie's veterinary care while the foster provides love and a peaceful environment for her to live out her life.
