Oh — hi! Stanley here.

Small, floofy, and pretty sure I was royalty in a past life. Treat accordingly.

My notes call me gentle and a little shy — I warm up fast once I trust you, though.

I'm a Fort Montgomery local, just waiting on the right person.

Here's the thing — I can't tell if we'd truly click until I know a little about you. Sign in (it's free) and I'll size up your place, say hello to any dogs you've got — or be your very first — and give you my honest read on whether we'd be a match.

Who knows — by Thanksgiving I might be napping on somebody's couch. I'd love it to be near you, one way or another.

Thanks for spending a minute with me. I'll be right here, tail ready, hoping it's you. — Stanley

About Stanley

Stanley is a 6–8-year-old Shih Tzu weighing approximately 16 pounds who was rescued from an overcapacity animal control facility after being abandoned. He has undergone significant medical care including neuter surgery, removal of his infected left eye, and treatment for an initial infection that has resolved; his kidney levels remain slightly elevated and he should be fed a lower protein diet and have bloodwork rechecked in a few months. Stanley is a gentle, quiet dog who thrives on companionship and prefers a calm indoor environment with his people nearby. He uses potty pads, loves napping on sofas, and is timid about walks outdoors, though he is gradually gaining confidence; he gets along well with other dogs and has adjusted beautifully after his eye surgery, though he may be startled if approached from his left side. Stanley has hair rather than fur and will need professional grooming every 4–6 weeks; he enjoys baths and grooming sessions, especially with treats. Stanley is best suited to a laid-back home with adults or older children experienced with dogs. He does not require other dogs but would appreciate their company, and he will want constant companionship, planning to shadow his family from room to room and share their sofa and bed. Basic training sessions with a certified positive reinforcement trainer are required for his adoption.
