Meet Sally! ❤️ A Big Personality, a Smart Girl, and So Much Potential! Sally is proof that patience, consistency, and a little belief can go a long way! This girl has been putting in the work, and we're seeing some pretty wonderful changes. She's smart, confident, social, opinionated, and full of personality. She also happens to be learning that she doesn't have to react to everything that catches her attention! Sally is a quick learner who thrives when given clear expectations, structure, and opportunities to use her brain. She's been working on impulse control and is beginning to understand that making good choices has its rewards. And we're especially proud of her progress with cats! After some careful groundwork and reintroductions, Sally has made tremendous strides. In fact, during an unexpected face-to-face encounter, a cat suddenly took off running, and Sally chose NOT to chase! That's a pretty big victory for this girl. We believe she could potentially live with dog-savvy cats who have safe spaces to retreat where Sally cannot follow. Continued supervision and reinforcement of her training will be important. A few more things to love about Sally: Great walking companion! She walks beautifully on leash and does so well that she can comfortably walk on a flat collar. Squirrels and reactive dogs can still be tempting distractions, but otherwise, she's a lovely walking partner. Smart and trainable! She catches on quickly and enjoys learning. Continued work on impulse control and self-regulation will help her keep making progress. Dog compatibility: Sally has done well with mature, neutral, calm, and confident male dogs. Small dogs and other female dogs may be more challenging for her, so thoughtful introductions and appropriate compatibility assessments are important. A girl with drive! Sally is energetic, intelligent, and has plenty of opinions. She needs an adopter who appreciates the working-dog mindset and understands the value of ongoing training. What Sally Needs in Her Forever Home Sally needs someone who sees potential rather than perfection. An adopter willing to continue her training, provide consistency, establish boundaries, and give her appropriate outlets for her energy will help her continue to shine. A secure physical fence at least five feet tall is required. Sally isn't looking for someone to simply love her and hope everything falls into place. She's looking for her person to be her partner, teacher, and biggest cheerleader. Look at how far she's already come! Our foster families are generally located within a 250 mile radius of Minneapolis, MN. All DRM dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, health checked, microchipped, 4DX tested, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
