Hi there! WHITNEY here.

I've known loneliness, but I'm learning that patience and gentleness might lead me to someone who truly sees me—someone willing to show me that love is worth the risk.

Word is I'm a championship snuggler. I don't like to brag, but the notes don't lie.

I'm a San Jose local, just waiting on the right person.

Here's the thing — I can't tell if we'd truly click until I know a little about you. Sign in (it's free) and I'll size up your place, say hello to any dogs you've got — or be your very first — and give you my honest read on whether we'd be a match.

Who knows — by Halloween I might be napping on somebody's couch. I'd love it to be near you, one way or another.

Either way, thank you for seeing me today. That part mattered more than you know. — WHITNEY

About WHITNEY

09/04/26 10:53Whitney is in need of rescue. She is experiencing high FAS in the shelter despite medical intervention. Meet Whitney!Whitney is a sweet, sensitive girl who is looking for a patient family willing to give her the time she needs to feel safe. Estimated to be around 3 years old, Whitney has experienced a lot of change in her life and can be cautious when meeting new people or encountering unfamiliar situations. When she first arrived at the shelter, Whitney was understandably fearful and unsure of her surroundings. With time, consistency, and gentle handling, she has made wonderful progress and now greets familiar people with a wagging tail and eagerness to come out and spend time with them.Whitney is a soft-hearted dog who enjoys treats, affection, and being close to people she trusts. When feeling unsure, she often seeks comfort from her handlers and leans into them for reassurance. Sudden noises and fast movements can still startle her, so she would thrive in a calm home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace.Whitney's ideal adopter will understand that trust is earned and that some dogs simply need a little extra patience to show their true personalities. In return, Whitney offers a loyal and loving companionship that is well worth the wait.If you're looking for a gentle dog who is blossoming more every day and would love the chance to finally settle into a stable home, Whitney may be the perfect match for you.08/06/26 09:41What did we do on today’s adventure:Guess who got to go on a Tails & Trails adventure today? Me! I jumped into the car, explored a busy park and PetSmart, and cruised past people, dogs, joggers, bikes, and geese like it was no big deal (but let's be honest... those squirrels were very interesting!). I started the walk with a bit of enthusiasm, but quickly settled into a lovely loose-leash stroll, checked inwith my human often, and politely greeted the world. My favorite part? Soaking up pets from my friend—and, of course, throwing in a few dramatic rolls in the grass just because life is good! What should potential adopters know about me:• Handled busy environments beautifully, remaining calm and polite around people, dogs, joggers, bikes, geese, and crowds.• A true people-lover! She absolutely thrives on affection and isn't shy about asking for it in the shelter. During her Tails & Trails outing, however, she was quiet and relaxed the entire time. We've been rewarding calm, quiet moments with pets and attention, and she's already starting to learn that being calm is the best way to ask for love.• Walks nicely on leash after the first few minutes, checks in with her handler often, and rides wonderfully in the car.• Curious about squirrels and enjoys a good sniffari, but overall is an easygoing, fun companion for adventures.Three words to describe me:Affectionate, Calm, Easygoing
