Keanu #3 | 3 year old German Shepherd mix | Your future adventure buddy Keanu is a 60-pound bundle of enthusiasm with a heart as big as his energy level. This handsome German Shepherd mix has never met a stranger—human or canine—and is happiest when he's playing, exploring, or simply being part of whatever you're doing. If you're looking for a loyal sidekick for hikes, long walks, fetch sessions, or trips to the water, Keanu is ready to sign up! Keanu absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a playful canine companion who can match his energy. Tug-of-war is one of his favorite games, and he could happily play all day. He's also a huge fan of toys, chewing bones, swimming, splashing in creeks, and pretty much any activity that keeps him moving. Even after two daily walks, fetch in the yard, and wrestling with his dog friends, he's often still ready for more fun. He's doing wonderfully with crate training and happily relaxes there while his people are away, especially with another dog in the home. He's nearly house trained and is making great progress. Keanu already knows sit, stay, and wait, though he's still polishing those skills. Food is a great motivator for him, but his excitement can sometimes get the better of his focus. Like many young dogs, Keanu is still learning his manners. He can jump on people, counter surf, play bite, and forget about personal space when he's excited. He also gets very distracted by rabbits on walks and is working on learning "leave it." With consistent training, structure, and positive reinforcement, he's already showing progress and has all the potential to become an incredible companion. Keanu's ideal home is an active one with another energetic dog, people who enjoy outdoor adventures, and a family committed to continuing his training. He may not have had much structure before coming into rescue, but he's eager to learn and has all the ingredients to become a devoted, lifelong best friend. If you're ready to invest a little time and a lot of love, Keanu will reward you with endless affection, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $400. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
