Animal Information: Bertie is a 7.5-year-old, 60lb hound mix who was adopted from Seattle Humane as a puppy. She is being surrendered because she needs more routine, attention, and activity than her owner can provide due to work demands. Her owner lives alone on Whidbey Island and works in Seattle 2-3 days a week. Most of the time Bertie cannot come along, so she spends many hours home alone. Her owner's job is also requiring more frequent travel, and there is a possibility of an overseas move within the next year. Bertie would do best in a home where she has more companionship, a consistent routine, and plenty of opportunities for exercise and interaction. Bertie is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves being with her person. She enjoys walks, relaxing at home, and simply being close to the people she loves. She is happiest when she can be part of her family's daily life. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and friendly with people. She does best with slow, proper introductions to other dogs and may be happiest as the only dog in the home. Bertie completed an e-collar board-and-train program with Double Down Dog Training several years ago. While that training has not been consistently maintained, she has a good foundation and is working on polishing those skills again. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian.
