Hey there! Sugar here.

Retriever rules: tennis balls are sacred, puddles are pools, and you are my entire world.

Word is I'm a championship snuggler. I don't like to brag, but the notes don't lie.

I'm still young and full of beans, with a whole lot of love (and the occasional zoomie) saved up for the right person.

I'm on the bigger side — which, if you ask me, is just more of me to hug.

I've been holding down the fort in Aurora, hoping someone like you would wander by.

Here's the thing — I can't tell if we'd truly click until I know a little about you. Sign in (it's free) and I'll size up your place, say hello to any dogs you've got — or be your very first — and give you my honest read on whether we'd be a match.

With a little luck, Thanksgiving could be my first one in a real home — possibly with you, or with someone you send my way.

Either way, thank you for seeing me today. That part mattered more than you know. — Sugar

About Sugar

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Sugar #7 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 72 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . Sugar #7| 1-year-old Yellow Lab mix | A big bundle of love with a serious case of the zoomies Sugar is a 40-pound Yellow Lab mix with a huge heart, endless energy, and SO much love to give! This sweet, playful girl loves everyone she meets and is always ready to share kisses, snuggles, and plenty of happy tail wags. She loves playing fetch, going for walks, romping around the yard, and making friends with other dogs. When playtime is over, she's happy to soak up affection, curl up nearby, and enjoy some well-earned rest. Kongs, puzzle toys, and anything crunchy are also big hits with this fun-loving girl! Sugar is still learning her manners and working on housetraining, but she's eager to please and responds well to praise and gentle, consistent guidance. She's learning not to jump on people, play-bite, or turn shoes, clothes, and plants into chew toys. She's comfortable in her crate and can stay home alone for a few hours, though she may bark or whine before settling in. As a high-energy pup, Sugar needs plenty of daily exercise, mental stimulation, and supervision to help her make good choices. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal, especially since she loves to chase squirrels and play fetch! Sugar gets along well with other dogs and would love a playful canine companion who can keep up with her enthusiasm. She can be a little vocal when meeting new dogs, but she settles in with proper introductions. She hasn't met cats or children yet, and because she's energetic and still learning her manners, older kids who understand how to interact respectfully with dogs may be the best fit. If you're looking for a happy, affectionate adventure buddy who will keep you smiling with her goofy antics, shower you with kisses, and remind you every day how much you're loved, Sugar could be your girl! She has so much potential and a heart of gold—she just needs a family ready to help her grow into the wonderful companion she's meant to be. Click here for more photos and videos of sweet Sugar #7! If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $400. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 72 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.
