He's also a goof ball! BIO: Winston came from a severe hoarding situation where he was locked in a kennel with three inches of waste. Considering everything he has been through, he's a friendly boy that loves people (once he warms up within minutes) and toys. He will also play with other small dogs but is also fine with bigger dogs as well. His only issue is he does have some separation anxiety so he would need to be crated should you leave the house. We think that's why it's important to have another dog in the household and you to know how to help him over his anxiety. This boy is so worth the effort. He's a happy and loving boy and would be great with several children over the age of 8 yrs. Younger than that he might knock them over in his joy of playing or just happy to be a part of a family. Give him a chance, won't you? Our must haves for him are: Fenced in yard Someone that could be home more than not Children over the age of 9yr to play with would be great Another young dog to play with. He loves to play No apartments, high rises or condos this boy needs to run and have fun If you are interested in Winston then please go to our website and fill out our online adoption application, he's waiting for you. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
