Special needs: [BLUE]Surrendered by an individual who had 20+ small dogs housed on their property. Yellow dot on intake. Fearful but allowed handling for intake process.Volunteers able to leash, pick up and carry dog to outdoor enclosure, where dog mainly stayed at the back of the enclosure close to the ground with kennel mates. Did not seek human interaction but allowed volunteers to pick up and hold.Timid and fearful, adopter will need to give dog time and space to build confidence. Likely would do best with another confident friendly canine companion. Does not walk on leash, fearful and avoidant if approached too quickly. Adopter should have experience handling unsocialized dogs and understand that dog likely will take many weeks or months to become comfortable with humans, and may always be fearful of unfamiliar people. Unknown how dog will behave around children; dog's fear and environmental sensitivity may make a home with children less suitable.This dog is a flight risk due to their fearful and undersocialized behavior. Recommend adopter keep this dog leashed at all times when outside and not leave the dog unattended outside. Highly recommend adopter use a tracking device on this dog (e.g., AirTag, Fi, Tractive) in case the dog does escape.[2026-07-25 21:30:00.000]
