PAWSPORT™ tag questions
- What is a PAWSPORT™ Tag?
- It's a small, durable NFC tag for your dog's collar. Tapping it with a smartphone opens your dog's Pawsport™ — the emergency information, contacts, care notes, and owner-approved profile you choose to share. It's an identity layer for your dog, not a GPS tracker.
- How does NFC work?
- NFC (Near-Field Communication) is the same technology behind tap-to-pay. When a phone is held within a couple of centimeters of the tag, it reads a secure link and opens your dog's Pawsport™ in the browser. Nothing is installed and no pairing is needed.
- Do I need batteries?
- No. The tag is powered by the phone that taps it, so there's nothing to charge or replace. It simply works.
- Do I need to charge it?
- Never. NFC tags draw their power from the reading phone, so there is no battery and no charging — for the life of the tag.
- Will it work with iPhone?
- Yes. Modern iPhones (XS and newer, on a current iOS) read NFC tags automatically when you hold the phone near the tag — no app required.
- Will it work with Android?
- Yes. Most modern Android phones support NFC. Make sure NFC is enabled in settings, then hold the phone near the tag to open the Pawsport™.
- Why am I receiving two tags?
- The official PAWSPORT™ tag is still in production, so we ship a temporary NFC tag right away — so you can activate and use Pawsport™ today. When the official tag is ready, we send it automatically at no extra cost. Both link to the same Pawsport™.
- Do I need to return the temporary tag?
- No return required. Keep it as a spare, repurpose it, or pass it to a friend — it's yours.
- Can I move the tag between collars?
- Yes. The tag attaches with a standard ring and moves between collars in seconds. You can also re-link a tag to a different dog from your dashboard at any time.
