The rescue’s notes on Dexter
Dexter is a 6-year-old Pit mix who is truly a "turn-key" dog. He's housebroken, crate trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is very responsive to commands and correction. Dexter already knows the routine of being a good house dog and settles easily into daily life. He's a confident guy who's used to being the only dog, so he naturally likes being in charge. Dexter could live with one or two calm, well-mannered dogs, but he doesn't do well with dominant personalities and will stand his ground if challenged. Because of this, he would do best either as the only dog or with easygoing dogs that respect his space. Dexter is a solid, dependable dog who just needs a home where he can relax, be part of the family, and enjoy the good life. At 6 years old, he's past the puppy stage but still has plenty of love and loyalty to give to his people.
