Oh — hi! Spruce here.
I'm still young and full of beans, with a whole lot of love (and a few zoomies) saved up for the right person.
I'd love to meet you. But if I'm not quite the one, maybe you could do me one tiny favor — print my bio and pop it up somewhere a future best friend might spot it. Who knows, I might see you at the park someday! Either way, thank you for stopping by and giving me a moment. It really did mean a lot. — Spruce 🐾
The rescue’s notes on Spruce
Spruce is in NJ waiting for an adopter. Meet Spruce — our shy little sapling learning to trust again. When Spruce first arrived, the world felt big and overwhelming. He's still unsure about hands and touch, and right now he finds the most comfort in the safety of his crate, where he can relax and observe the world from a place that feels secure. Spruce isn't the kind of dog who will rush up for affection — he needs time, patience, and space to build trust at his own pace. But that doesn't mean he won't get there. Dogs like Spruce often form incredibly deep, meaningful bonds once they feel safe, and every small step he takes is progress. He's a quiet, gentle soul who would thrive in a calm home with people who understand that love sometimes means simply sitting nearby and letting him come to you when he's ready. He'd do best with: – A peaceful home (no young kids) – Patient, understanding humans who will respect his boundaries – A consistent routine and safe spaces (like his crate) – A yard or small potty area while he continues gaining confidence – Other calm, respectful pets could be a great influence Spruce may not be ready for cuddles just yet, but with time, patience, and kindness, he has the potential to blossom in his own beautiful way. If you believe in earning a dog's trust and celebrating the little wins, Spruce could be the one who changes your heart forever. Spruce will be up to date on vaccines. His adoption donation is $500. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.
