Best in an adults-only home

Special needs: [YELLOW]Background: adopted and returned after about a month. Adopter said he "destroyed furniture, was not house trained, and appeared to resource guard food. Owner did not feel comfortable having toddlers around dog due to kids crawling. Owner emphasized that Barry is a great dog who would do well in a home without young kids and with owners who can devote more time to help him decompress after leaving the shelter. Can be available for adoption, recommended for home with familiarity w/ adequate decompression time/processes and no young children. Psst… hi! Barry here.

I'm still young and full of beans, with a whole lot of love (and a few zoomies) saved up for the right person.

I'm on the bigger side — but honestly, that's just more of me to hug.

I do come with a few special needs, but please don't let that worry you — I just need a patient friend, and I pay it back tenfold.

I'd love to meet you. But if I'm not quite the one, maybe you could do me one tiny favor — print my bio and pop it up somewhere a future best friend might spot it. Who knows, I might see you at the park someday! Either way, thank you for stopping by and giving me a moment. It really did mean a lot. — Barry 🐾

The rescue’s notes on Barry

Barry – Gentle, Affectionate, and Looking for His Person Barry is a 1½-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing 78 pounds with a remarkably sweet, sensitive nature. Devoted companion: Barry likes staying close to his person during his outings, frequently checking in for reassurance, pets, and affection. He loves leaning against people and occasionally gently offering a paw. Soft and sensitive: He may initially appear cautious, offering shy glances. With patience and kindness, his confidence grows noticeably, and he becomes more relaxed and engaged. Gentle manners: Barry walks politely close to you on leash and takes treats very gently. He knows "sit," though he may need a little encouragement at first. Sweetly social: He generally shows little interest in reacting to other dogs or passing people. While he may briefly enjoy chasing a tennis ball, affection consistently ranks higher than toys or treats. Barry would do well with appropriately matched dogs or as a solo dog with dog friends outside the home. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Walnut (@walnut.wanders)
