Special needs: [YELLOW]Background: Stray intake 4/20/26. Finder noted that dog was very gentle and sweet and ignored other dogs. Dog has been in shelter 2 days. Yellow dot assigned at intake. Intake staff reported that dog was nervous throughout intake but allowed everything. First time meeting both handlers.O: Dog was lying down in the back of the kennel. Handler approached the front and crouched while speaking to the dog. Dog stood up and approached the front of the kennel with soft wagging tail. Easy to leash. Stalled to sniff other dogs in ward with evident piloerection. Followed handler out into the hallway. Moderate to heavy pulling in the hallway. Loose leash walking outside. In the yard, dog sniffed the perimeter. Eliminated x2. Did not approach handlers unless encouraged with baby talk or treat offerings. Took treats with gentle mouth. May know sit, but did not respond to any verbal cues in English. Slightly stiff wagging tail while petting. Stepped closer for more pets then walked away to sniff. Allowed full body handling of head, neck, chest, back, belly, legs, including teeth check with generally soft, but somewhat stoic face and body language. Continued to walk, sniff the yard, and look out of the fence following handling. Heavy pulling in the parking lot prior to entering the building. Loose leash walking in the hallway. No issues rekenneling. B B A: Yellow for handling. Somewhat stoic and difficult to assess. Dog was independent in the yard and did not engage with handlers unless encouraged to do so using treats or baby talk. Medium energy adult dog with minimal training. Treat motivated. Does not appear to have any sensitivity to handling. P: Available for adoption following stray hold. Adopters should be able to provide rewards-based obedience training. Adopters should be prepared for strong pulling on leash. Ideally adopters should have breed experience or have researched the breed. Unknown how he will do with children.B [2026-04-23 01:42:00.000]
