The rescue’s notes on Tawny

Meet Tawny! Tawny's story began with heartbreak. She and her sister were found living on the streets in absolutely horrible condition, neglected and struggling to survive. Despite everything she endured, Tawny has remained one of the sweetest. This girl has a calm, gentle nature and seems to be mostly well-trained. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and people. Tawny loves the simple things in life—a soft dog bed, a cozy lap to curl up on, and spending time with her people. Because Tawny's health and well-being are so important to us, she has received extensive veterinary care while in rescue. During her spay surgery, our veterinarian detected a Grade III/VI heart murmur. To ensure she received the best care possible, we proceeded with comprehensive bloodwork and a full echocardiogram. Her bloodwork came back completely normal, however she did test positive for Chagas -which she is currently on medication for. Her echocardiogram showed findings within normal limits, with all heart structures measuring normal size. The cardiologist noted that her risk of heart failure is considered low, with no masses or effusions present. A sinus arrhythmia was recorded on the ECG, but overall her cardiac evaluation was very reassuring. At this time, there are no further testing/diagnostics to be done. Tawny is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, 4DX negative, and current on ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention and Bravecto flea and tick prevention. We have not yet tested Tawny with cats or children, so those situations are currently unknown. The adoption fee for Tawny is $450. To apply, please visit www.adoggie4you.org. Tawny is currently in Texas but can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, Kentucky, and locations along the East Coast for an additional $225 transport fee. Please note that we are unable to transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to state regulations.
