- Good with kids
- Special needs
Special needs: [YELLOW]Background: surrendered due to eviction. Given green dot in PP, yellow dot on kennel card.B Handling: 5/31/26: Standing at front on approach, full body wiggles, paws tapping, leashes up easily. Pulls mildly outside, loose body. In small yard, sniffed toys but no play currently. Knows "sit", takes treats gently, allowed all over handling of head/body, including teeth check. Sought handler multiple times while in yard, climbed onto bench next to handler. Eliminated multiple times. Resists rekenneling, but followed handler into kennel with trail of treats. A: Affiliative, young dog with some minimal training. Would be a fairly "easy" dog, except for mild pulling and resistance to re-kennel. Behavior seems shelter-related.B P: Continued rewards-based training and familiarity with adequate decompression time will be ideal for this dog. Unknown how dog may do with children, but dog may be a match for a variety of homes. Dog savvy children 8 y/o+ may be okay.B [2026-05-31 20:54:00.000]
Oh — hi! Saratoga here.
I'm still young and full of beans, with a whole lot of love (and a few zoomies) saved up for the right person.
I'm on the bigger side — but honestly, that's just more of me to hug.
I do come with a few special needs, but please don't let that worry you — I just need a patient friend, and I pay it back tenfold.
I'd love to meet you. But if I'm not quite the one, maybe you could do me one tiny favor — print my bio and pop it up somewhere a future best friend might spot it. Who knows, I might see you at the park someday! Either way, thank you for stopping by and giving me a moment. It really did mean a lot. — Saratoga 🐾
The rescue’s notes on Saratoga
Saratoga – Sweet, Sensitive, and Ready to Blossom Saratoga is a 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing 52 pounds with a loving heart and an energetic spirit. Active and playful: She may pull strongly on leash when excited and loves opportunities to zoom around in the yard and explore. Loves people, especially kids: Saratoga has successfully lived with children under 12 and has been wonderfully sweet when meeting dog-savvy children. Smart and treat motivated: Saratoga responds to "sit," comes when called, and takes treats gently. Sensitive sweetheart: She may be cautious with quick movements at first. Given patience and gentle handling, she seeks affection, enjoys scratches, and shows her loving nature with an occasional polite kiss. Curious but manageable: Saratoga is very interested in activity around her, including other dogs, but she responds well to redirection. Saratoga would do well with appropriately matched dogs or as a solo dog with dog friends outside the home, though she would likely thrive as the only dog.
