Well, hello! Zeus here.

I'm still young and full of beans, with a whole lot of love (and a few zoomies) saved up for the right person.

I'm on the bigger side — but honestly, that's just more of me to hug.

I'd love to meet you. But if I'm not quite the one, maybe you could do me one tiny favor — print my bio and pop it up somewhere a future best friend might spot it. Who knows, I might see you at the park someday! Either way, thank you for stopping by and giving me a moment. It really did mean a lot. — Zeus 🐾

The rescue’s notes on Zeus

Do you want to meet me? I will be at SLP Pet Evolution, 5217 Excelsior Blvd, St Louis Park, MN 55416 (Miracle Miles Shopping Center) for an Adoption Event on Friday, June 19th from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Zeus is a giant puppy with an even bigger heart. At just 11 months old, he's already larger than many adult dogs, but don't let his size fool you—he's still very much a playful, affectionate youngster who is convinced everyone he meets is a potential best friend. Friendly and social, Zeus loves meeting new people and dogs. He greets canine companions with an enthusiastic play bow and is always ready for a game. Because he's still growing into both his body and his manners, he doesn't always realize just how big he is. He's never intentionally rough, but his puppy enthusiasm can occasionally be a bit much. With continued training and maturity, Zeus is well on his way to becoming the calm, gentle, and loyal Great Dane the breed is famous for. Zeus loves his toys and happily rotates between tug ropes, Benebones, XL tennis balls, and even a soccer ball—which he's recently started fetching! When he's not playing, you'll find him chewing on a favorite toy, watching the world go by from a window, or most likely trying to cuddle as close to his people as physically possible. Like many Danes, Zeus is a sensitive soul who looks to his humans for reassurance. New experiences sometimes make him pause and think things through, whether it's getting into a different vehicle, leaving the tub at the dog wash, or navigating an unfamiliar situation. A little patience, encouragement, and a few treats are all it takes for him to gain confidence and move forward. Zeus wants nothing more than to be wherever his people are. He rides beautifully in the car, rarely barks, and thrives on companionship. He would love a home committed to continuing his training, socializing him with other dogs, and including him in everyday adventures. His favorite place to be is curled up on the couch, attempting to become a lap dog despite his impressive size. He is crate trained and views his kennel as a safe place for meals and bedtime. While he had a couple of kennel accidents during a period when he was taking steroids and drinking significantly more water, those issues resolved once his water intake before bedtime was adjusted. He has otherwise been reliable in the house. Zeus is still working on his leash manners and can pull when excited, but he's making steady progress. Nail trims aren't his favorite activity, and having an extra set of hands can be helpful. He handled his bath like a champ and continues to show what a wonderful, willing companion he can be. Future adopters should be prepared for a very large dog. Great Danes continue maturing for quite some time, and Zeus is expected to become an especially big boy. His foster family estimates he may reach 160–180 pounds when fully grown. Because of his size, ongoing training and commitment to helping him become a well-mannered adult will be important. If you're looking for a devoted companion, a constant shadow, and a giant snuggle bug who believes personal space is optional, Zeus may just be the perfect addition to your family. I'm a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter's expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. T his puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void. We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee. Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn't meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***
