Special needs: [YELLOW]Background: Owner surrender on 6/1/26. Surrendered along with a young female dog. No owner surrender form. Second time meeting first handler. First time meeting second handler on 6/3/26.O: At the front of the kennel, tapping feet and wagging tail. Easy to leash. Bounced around on leash without making contact with handler. Pulled moderately down the hallway with occasional check-ins with handler. Eliminated x1 prior to entering the yard. Eliminated x2 in the yard. Approached both handlers with fully relaxed, full body wagging. Relaxed open mouth. Rolled over for belly rubs. Jumped up and became moderately mouthy when handler baby talked. Settled and sat down when asked. Relaxed for all over handling including teeth check. Approximately 7 months old by teeth. Teeth made contact with hands when he took treats, but displayed good bite inhibition. Chased tossed toys but did not play. Barked at another barking dog in the distance. Turned to handler and sat when asked. Some mouthing at leash on the way back, but responded to sit and use of treats to lure away from leash biting. Moderate pulling back to kennel. No issues rekenneling.B A: Very affiliative juvenile (less than 1 year old). Medium to high energy. Knows basic commands (sit) and attentive to handler. Possibly house trained (i.e., holds it). Pulls moderately, but manageable due to size. Shows enjoyment with pets. Very playful with handlers. Treat motivated. Yellow for in-shelter handling d/t jumping, some mouthing at the leash and slightly mouthy behavior.B P: Make available for adoption. Dog may be a good fit for a variety of homes and may do well with dog-savvy kids as he is social and playful. Recommend older kids as he exhibits some puppy-like light mouthy behavior. Recommend adopters provide patient rewards-based obedience training.B [2026-06-03 19:34:00.000]
Psst… hi! Colfax here.
I'm still young and full of beans, with a whole lot of love (and a few zoomies) saved up for the right person.
I do come with a few special needs, but please don't let that worry you — I just need a patient friend, and I pay it back tenfold.
I'd love to meet you. But if I'm not quite the one, maybe you could do me one tiny favor — print my bio and pop it up somewhere a future best friend might spot it. Who knows, I might see you at the park someday! Either way, thank you for stopping by and giving me a moment. It really did mean a lot. — Colfax 🐾
