Meet Johnny!Johnny is an approximately 1-year-old Pit Bull who is eager to get out and explore. He is easy to leash, highly treat motivated, and allows full handling. Once outside of his kennel, Johnny is very environmentally focused and enjoys investigating everything around him.In the shelter environment, Johnny has displayed signs of kennel stress, including constant vocalization, pacing, and jumping on the kennel door. He can become excited and over-aroused around other dogs, particularly through barriers, though he is generally redirectable with handler guidance.Johnny has shown some sensitivity to sudden noises and handling pressure. He has been observed flinching at unexpected sounds and lowering his body or attempting to move away when feeling cornered or restrained. He responds best to calm, patient handling and has tolerated veterinary procedures well when allowed to proceed at his own pace.During dog introductions, Johnny initially became highly focused on other dogs and could be overzealous in his greetings. However, he demonstrated appropriate social behavior with a young female dog, engaged in play, and accepted correction appropriately when he became too forward. He would benefit from continued training, leash work, and thoughtful dog introductions as he continues to mature.
