Special needs: [YELLOW]Background: found tied up outside shelter, brought in by staff. Given yellow dot on intake.B Handling 6/8/26: Lying at back of kennel on approach, stood up at back door, initially backed away from leash but allowed slow looping. When almost at exit of kennel, dog backed out of loop, went into ward, slipped out of door and trotted down hallway. Allowed handler to leash at end of hallway, pulled to end of leash while walking outside. Eliminated multiple times in small yard. Allowed all over handling by multiple staff members and took treats from two. Flinched a little at touch on back. Slightly hard mouth, knows "sit", allowed quick check of teeth. No interest in toys currently. Followed handler back into kennel, ate treats.B A: Dog appears overwhelmed/skittish currently. Could be 4-6 years old from tartar. Fairly affiliative, sweet, food-motivated dog, minimal training. May have lived outdoors primarily.B P: Continue slow socialization while dog acclimates to new people/new environment. Breed experienced and shy-dog experienced adopters preferred. Adopters should allow dog to dictate pace of interactions and continue rewards-based training. Best for quiet home, dog-savvy children 13 y/o+ may be manageable.B [2026-06-08 19:33:00.000]
