- Special needs
Special needs: [YELLOW]Background: brought in stray by finder. Given yellow dot due to dog appearing nervous during intake.Handling: 6/8/26: Standing at front on approach, slightly dodgy of leash but allowed slow leashing. Walks w/ mild pulling, some zigzags and circling. In small yard, eliminated immediately, marked a few times, likes treats, takes treats gently, allowed all over handling of head/body, including teeth check. Skittish w/ sudden movements and initial touch. Could lure into a "sit". No interest in toys currently except for sniffing. Resists rekenneling, but followed handler in and ate treats in kennel.B A: Overwhelmed/anxious young dog with some minimal training. Appears environmentally sensitive in shelter environment, is treat motivated. May have lived primarily outdoors and is undersocilaized. Resistant to re-kennel. May be 1-2 years old.B P: Continued slow, consistent socialization, rewards-based training, and familiarity with adequate decompression time will be ideal for this dog. Adopters would ideally be breed-experienced and experienced w/ shy/anxious dogs and providing adequate decompression time. Dog should be allowed to dictate pace of interactions. Best for adult home or possibly w/ very dog savvy children 13 y/o+.[2026-06-08 20:14:00.000]
Psst… hi! Elsinore here.
I've got a feeling you and I could be pretty great together.
I'm on the bigger side — but honestly, that's just more of me to hug.
I do come with a few special needs, but please don't let that worry you — I just need a patient friend, and I pay it back tenfold.
I'd love to meet you. But if I'm not quite the one, maybe you could do me one tiny favor — print my bio and pop it up somewhere a future best friend might spot it. Who knows, I might see you at the park someday! Either way, thank you for stopping by and giving me a moment. It really did mean a lot. — Elsinore 🐾
