German Shepherd Dog · Young · Female · Large

Oakland, ca

  • Special needs

Special needs: [YELLOW]Background: Stray intake on 6/5/26 with another female shepherd. No finder notes entered. Intake staff reported dog was nervous throughout intake but allowed everything. First time meeting both handlers during handling evaluation on 6/8/26.O: Dog was at front of kennel with loose wagging tail and relaxed open mouth. Easy to leash. Moderate pulling on leash with some zig-zag walking and changing direction. Eliminated x1 as soon as entering the yard. Paced and sniffed throughout the yard. Slight flinching on initial touch from handler. Pressed head against handlers hands while petting her around her head. Approached both handlers several times for all over pets. Loose wagging tail throughout. B Allowed teeth check. Approximately 4 years old by teeth. Followed tossed stuffed toy and ball, but did not pick up. Did not sit when asked. Took treats with moderately hard mouth, but okay with flat palm. Moderate pulling back to kennel with some erratic walking. No issues rekenneling. A: Independent at first, but affiliative after a short time in the yard. Treat motivated. Possibly house trained as she eliminated immediately in the yard. Does not appear to have any basic training (does not know sit and walks erratically on leash). Shows enjoyment with pets. P: Make available for adoption. Recommend patient rewards-based approach to basic training (leash walking, basic commands) with structured and slow introduction to new environments/people. May do best in an adult only home or with older dog-savvy older kids as dog is somewhat anxious and flinches with some touch. Yellow for in-shelter handling d/t some flinching with initial interactions with handlers.[2026-06-08 20:33:00.000]

Hi there! Seaside here.

I'm still young and full of beans, with a whole lot of love (and a few zoomies) saved up for the right person.

I'm on the bigger side — but honestly, that's just more of me to hug.

I do come with a few special needs, but please don't let that worry you — I just need a patient friend, and I pay it back tenfold.

I'd love to meet you. But if I'm not quite the one, maybe you could do me one tiny favor — print my bio and pop it up somewhere a future best friend might spot it. Who knows, I might see you at the park someday! Either way, thank you for stopping by and giving me a moment. It really did mean a lot. — Seaside 🐾
