Hi, new friend! Marcus here.
I'm a substantial fellow with an old soul: deeply loyal once you've earned my trust, energetic enough for bike rides and park adventures, and perfectly content sunbathing between expeditions.
They wrote that I love to play. Understatement. I'd hike, fetch, and nap with you, in that order.
I'm still young and full of beans, with a whole lot of love (and the occasional zoomie) saved up for the right person.
Born and (almost) raised right here in Los Angeles.
Here's the thing — I can't tell if we'd truly click until I know a little about you. Sign in (it's free) and I'll size up your place, say hello to any dogs you've got — or be your very first — and give you my honest read on whether we'd be a match.
If all goes well, I could be curled up with my new pack by the Fourth of July — maybe yours, whether you adopt me or just help me get noticed.
Anyway, thank you for reading all the way to the end. Not everyone does, and I noticed. — Marcus

About Marcus
Meet our larger-than-life 2 yr old Standard Dachshund, Marcus. At a solid 35 pounds of pure dachshund, this handsome guy is proof that big personalities come in long, low packages. He's incredibly loyal to his foster mom and dad — once you're in his circle, you're in. He bonds deeply, loves hard, and takes his job as devoted sidekick very seriously. He's also an athlete at heart. This boy can sprint alongside a bike like a champ, happily cruising through the neighborhood with the wind in his ears. He enjoys long walks through the park, exploring new smells, and stretching those surprisingly powerful legs. After a good workout, you'll often find him in the backyard, soaking up rays like it's his full-time job. He travels well in the car and is always ready for the next adventure. That said, Marcus is looking for a very specific forever home where he can continue to thrive. He needs a home with a secure yard where he can exercise and relax outdoors. Because of his size, energy level, and training needs, apartments and condos are not a good fit for him. He would absolutely THRIVE on a farm! Marcus is seeking an adult-only home with no children . He can be unpredictable around children and people he doesn't know well, and he has a bite history. He also struggles with leash reactivity toward other dogs (and occasionally some people). While he has made progress, he will need an adopter who understands that training is an ongoing process. Ideally, Marcus would be placed with an experienced dog owner who is committed to continuing his training and helping him build confidence. He would likely do best in a home with another stable dog his size or larger that can serve as a companion and playmate. The good news? We're committed to helping him succeed and will be working with a professional trainer to address these behaviors and give him the tools he needs to feel safer and more confident in the world. Marcus will thrive with: • A calm, structured environment • A home with a secure yard (no apartments or condos) • Experienced dog guardians committed to continued training • No children • Another stable dog his size or larger (preferred) • Consistent training and clear boundaries • Plenty of exercise and mental stimulation If you believe in second chances, have the experience, patience, live in an house with a yard and commitment to help Marcus continue becoming his best self, he just might be your guy. He's looking for more than an adopter — he's looking for his forever person. .
